MONROE COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPUTIES MAKE ARREST IN TOWN OF PITTSFORD INCIDENT; INDIVIDUAL FACES FELONY CHARGES

Efforts Continue to Identify and Locate Outstanding Suspect

Pittsford, NY (July 3, 2021) – On Friday, July 2 2021, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office arrested and charged James Boston, 61, Rochester in connection with an incident that occurred in the 500 block of Marsh Rd. in the Town of Pittsford on 7/2/21. The original call was dispatched at 3:14 p.m. as a suspicious vehicle parked in a driveway. A deputy arrived within minutes and spotted the described vehicle. The vehicle drove at a high rate of speed towards the deputy and the vehicle ended up involved in a minor motor vehicle accident when it crashed into a fence. Fortunately our deputy was not injured. The deputy was able to take the driver, Mr. Boston, into custody and while doing so, located a gun on the driver. There were no injuries to the suspect.

Mr. Boston faces the following charges: Assault in the 2 nd degree, Class – D Felony; Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3 rd degree, Class D-Felony, Resisting Arrest, Class A-Misdemeanor. Mr. Boston was arraigned in Pittsford Town Court and remanded to the Monroe County Jail held without bail.

While the incident described above was occurring, a call for a burglary in progress came into the 911 center for an address in close proximity to the original call. That suspect was seen fleeing the area on foot. He is described as a male white, approximately 30 y/o, 6’0”, thin build, mustache, possibly wearing a grey shirt. MCSO deputies, our K-9 Unit, along with the NYSP Aviation Unit, conducted an exhaustive search in the area for the individual with negative results. MCSO is grateful for the diligent efforts of all involved, including our deputies and Major Crimes Unit investigators, K-9 unit, NYSP, partners in law enforcement, media partners and community members, who are encouraged to call 911 with any leads or information related to the case. MCSO will continue to work through the weekend to identify and locate the outstanding suspect.
