MCSO Investigates Suspicious Penfield Incident

Anyone with Information Urged to Call 911

 

On May 23, 2022 at approximately 5:45 p.m., in the neighborhood of Yorktown Drive, Guygrace Lane, and Triple Diamond Way in the Town of Penfield, an unknown male in a grey mid-sized SUV, with rust along the bottom, initiated a suspicious conversation with an 11 year-old. While inside his vehicle, the male attempted to engage the child in conversation. The child rode off and continued on his way. A short time later, in the same general vicinity, the male drove up to the child for a second time and attempted to engage in conversation. The child again rode off and reported the incident to his mother.

Throughout the incident, the male did not exit his vehicle or make physical contact with the child. The individual is described as a male-white, 20-40 years old, with a slim build, short brown colored hair, and facial acne. The male’s intentions are not known at this time.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office is investigating this incident and will be conducting high visibility patrols in the area of Yorktown Drive, Guygrace Lane, and Triple Diamond Way. Additionally, the Webster Central School District and Penfield Central School District have been advised of this incident. The Sheriff’s Office is interested in speaking to the unknown male, and is asking anyone with information about this incident to call 911.

The Sheriff’s Office commends the child for doing the right thing and reporting this incident. The child’s actions serve as a model of what to do when approached in similar situations.
