Pittsford, NY (December 21, 2022) Monroe County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a man Monday morning for trespassing after he was previously banned from the Pittsford Library. James Muhammad, 29, of Pittsford, was uncooperative with deputies.

On December 16, 2022, deputies responded to 24 State Street in the Village of Pittsford for a man lingering in the Pittsford Library and making females uncomfortable. At that time, an employee banned Mr. Muhammad from the premises.

On December 19, 2022 at about 11:32 in the morning, deputies responded for a man who was trespassing at the Pittsford Library. Upon arrival, deputies were told Mr. Muhammad was banned from the property on 12/16/22. The deputies told Muhammad he was under arrest for trespass and he refused to comply with deputies’ orders. He became aggressive, swung his fists at the deputies and shoved one of them, prior to deputies taking him into custody.

James Muhammad is charged with:

  • Resisting Arrest (Class A-Misdemeanor)
  • Trespass (Violation)

Mr. Muhammad was issued an appearance ticket and released.

 

Also on December 16, 2022, MCSO was notified by Nazareth College of a suspicious incident in which a man was making a staff member uncomfortable on campus with his words and actions. Upon further investigation, deputies identified the individual as Mr. Muhammad.
