Henrietta, NY (October 6, 2022) The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man Tuesday night, for robbery at the Walmart in the Town of Henrietta. Johnny Lee Greggs, 64, of Rochester, attacked security with a knife while stealing merchandise from 1200 Marketplace Drive.

On October 4, 2022 at about 9:00 in the evening, Monroe County Sheriff’s deputies responded to Walmart for a robbery in progress. Security saw Mr. Greggs trying to leave the store without paying for merchandise. When security approached him, Mr. Greggs pulled a knife from his pocket and swung it at them. He slashed a security employee in the face with the knife. Greggs left the store with a shopping cart of merchandise. Deputies located him not far from Walmart with the stolen merchandise. They were able to take an armed and dangerous suspect safely into custody without further injuries. The security employee was evaluated by medical professionals with AMR ambulance on scene.

Johnny Lee Greggs is charged with:

Robbery in the First Degree (Class B-Felony)

Burglary in the Second Degree (Class C-Felony)

Assault in the Second Degree (Class D-Felony)

Petit Larceny (Class A-Misdemeanor)

Menacing in the Second Degree (Class A-Misdemeanor)

Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree (Class A-Misdemeanor)

Mr. Greggs was arraigned in Henrietta Town Court and remanded to the Monroe County Jail on no bail due to predicate felon status. He also had an outstanding warrant for Petit Larceny
