At 3:40 a.m. on March 16, 2024, the Brighton Police Department issued a broadcast detailing the description of four vehicles involved in a larceny incident at Vision Hyundai on W. Henrietta Rd. While en route to the area, Monroe County Sheriff’s deputies sighted the vehicles driving recklessly and making U-turns at the intersection of Calkins Rd. and W. Henrietta Rd. Deputies activated their emergency lights and sirens in an effort to bring the vehicles to a stop. The drivers refused to comply and sped off quickly down W. Henrietta Rd. towards the City of Rochester. Deputies tracked the vehicles until they discovered one crashed into the median on Mt. Hope Ave. near Crittenden Blvd. The driver ran from the vehicle wearing a black mask. Accompanied by his K9 partner, a deputy effectively located, apprehended, and identified the suspect as a 15-year-old juvenile from Rochester. The vehicle involved in the crash was reported as stolen from an apartment complex in Brighton earlier that evening. The remaining cars continued driving and are still unaccounted for.

The 15-year-old juvenile is charged with:
·         Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle in the Third Degree (Class A-Misdemeanor)

The juvenile was transported to the Monroe County Children's Detention Center, where he was held until his arraignment in Monroe County Family Court on March 18, 2024 where he was released to his guardian.
