On January 27, 2024 at 3:47 in the morning, Monroe County Sheriff’s deputies responded to Locust Lane in the Town of Perinton for a group of people breaking into cars. The first arriving deputy saw three males run from a carport and enter a waiting silver 2019 Ford Flex with New York State license plates. The deputy attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver chose not to comply, instead speeding through a stop sign and striking a curb, which resulted in the vehicle becoming disabled. Four males fled from the vehicle and entered a residential backyard, causing damage to the fence in an attempt to escape. The deputy quickly detained a 15-year-old male while additional deputies set up a perimeter and located a 17-year-old male and detained him. The investigation revealed the vehicle involved in the accident had been reported stolen from a residence in the Town of Penfield.

The 17-year-old juvenile of Penfield is charged with:

  • Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle in the Third Degree (Class A-Misdemeanor)
  • Criminal Mischief in the Fourth Degree (Class A-Misdemeanor)

The 15-year-old juvenile of Greece is charged with:

  • Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle in the Third Degree (Class A-Misdemeanor)
  • Criminal Mischief in the Fourth Degree (Class A-Misdemeanor)

Deputies transported the juveniles to the Monroe County Children’s Detention Center to await arraignment.

UPDATE: Both juveniles were arraigned in Monroe County Family Court and released to the custody of their families.
