At the Monroe County Hall of Justice on January 9, 2024, at approximately 3:00 p.m., Judge Randall was sentencing Sincere Vasquez for manslaughter. At the conclusion of the proceeding, there were outbursts in the courtroom between the involved families. Deputies took action to restore order and an individual later identified as Imani Gunner continued to interrupt the court. Ms. Gunner resisted arrest, striking a deputy in the face. Malik Gunner interfered during the arrest of his sister Imani, resulting in the deployment of pepper spray and tasers.

Imani S. Gunner, 27, of Brockport is charged with:

  • Criminal Contempt in the Second Degree (Class A-Misdemeanor)
  • Resisting Arrest (Class A-Misdemeanor)
  • Harassment in the Second Degree (Violation)

Malik J. Gunner, 24, of Hamlin is charged with:

  • Obstruction of Governmental Administration in the Second Degree (Class A-Misdemeanor)

Imani Gunner was arraigned in Rochester City Court this morning and released to pretrial services. Malik Gunner was issued an appearance ticket and released.

Preserving the sanctity of the courts is crucial for the functioning of the criminal justice system. The deputies effectively averted a potential escalation of the chaotic situation.
