On April 24, 2024 at 9:22 in the morning, Monroe County Sheriff deputies responded to the Pittsford Wegmans at 3195 Monroe Avenue for the report of shots fired at a vehicle in the parking lot. Fortunately, no one was shot or injured. Wegmans’ staff acted quickly and placed the store in lockdown for the safety of the customers and employees. Deputies secured the scene, while MCSO Major Crimes Unit Investigators interviewed witnesses, reviewed surveillance video, and developed a suspect vehicle, which was distributed for public awareness. MCSO technicians processed the scene for evidence. The investigation revealed as the victim was sitting in his car, the suspect vehicle approached, shot into his vehicle, and drove off. The investigation is ongoing.

Our Monroe County Sheriff's Office Crime Victim Specialists are actively involved in assisting the victim throughout the investigation and will remain dedicated to supporting him and his family as they navigate the criminal justice system.

The Monroe County Sheriff Office values the ongoing partnership we have with Wegmans and commends their quick thinking staff, who put a safety plan in place.

While there is no evidence to suggest any threat to the community, we ask anyone with information to call 911.
