On April 25, 2024, at 2:23 in the afternoon, Monroe County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the 1300 block of Monroe-Orleans County Line Road in the Town of Hamlin for the report of a woman found deceased in her home. Based upon the initial investigation, it appears the woman succumbed to injuries sustained from a gunshot wound. Upon further investigation, another resident was found inside the house with injuries and was transported to a local hospital, listed in critical condition. Deputies secured the area while technicians processed the scene for evidence. MCSO Crime Victim Specialists and the Monroe County Forensic Intervention Team responded to assist the family during this difficult time. The MCSO Major Crimes Unit is conducting the investigation.
This incident is isolated to the inside of the home, and there is no evidence to suggest any danger to the community.
